The arrival of Sinterklaas

Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas) and Zwarte Pieten (Black Pete) arrives in the Netherlands each year in mid-November (usually on a Saturday) by steamboat from Spain.

Sinterklaas and  the Zwarte Pieten are welcomed by children cheering and singing traditional Sinterklaas songs.

Sinterklaas and  the Zwarte Pieten visit all the towns, villages, schools, shopping malls and other places where many children.In places a boat cannot reach, Sinterklaas arrives by train, horse, horse-drawn carriage, policecar or even a fire truck.

Groene Weelde recreational area

Groene Weelde is a recreational area lies between Hoofddorp, Cruquius and Vijfhuizen. It is a beautiful, large and varied recreation area. With forests, playgrounds, lakes. Dogs can run loose almost anywhere. In the middle of the recreation area lies a high pyramid-shaped hill. These big hill named Big Spotters Hill. From this hill you have a wonderful view over the surrounding area.

It is possible to walk to the Haarlemmermeersebos. Using a viaduct under the provincial road (N205)

Haarlemmermeersebos forest Hoofddorp

Haarlemmermeersebos  is a large park-like area around a recreational lake in Hoofddorp, Netherlands.

The recreation area is a regional attraction for sightseers, nature lovers, walkers, groomers, cyclists, swimmers, surfers, dog owners, riders and anglers.

There are several restaurants and lots of attractive play.
Haarlemmermeerse forest is a beauty of a forest.

Fort near Hoofddorp

Fort near Hoofddorp (1907) is a hidden treasure of Hoofddorp.  The fort is part of the defence line  of Amsterdam. The Defence Line was inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996 because of its value for all mankind. The UNESCO monument is located in Hoofddorp, near the windmill ‘de Eersteling’.
